### Word/PDF to Markdown import

Upload DOC, DOCX, or text-based PDF files and convert them into Markdown with extracted asset references returned inline. An unchanged legacy DOC uses a self-hosted approximate Word preview plus direct LibreOffice PDF/DOCX conversions instead of presenting the Markdown reconstruction as the source layout. Editing switches the preview and exports to Depapel's Markdown renderer. LibreOffice can differ from Microsoft Word, so opening the DOCX in Microsoft Word is the authoritative layout check. PDF import uses extractable text with best-effort bold and italic recovery, does not run OCR or reconstruct arbitrary layout, and does not require a separate asset host.
